The Fade Runer EP

Milton Jackson is a man on a mission. His prolificacy and diversity as a producer suggest he’s out to conquer just about every dancefloor on the planet. In fact, we wonder if he ever comes up for air and ventures from his studio? Social concerns aside, ‘The Fade Runner’ EP displays yet again the quality and variety of Milton’s production talents as he skips genres with an almost nonchalant ease adding his Midas touch to all that takes his fancy.

Milton’s last offering on Urbantorque was the disturbing ‘Evil Theme’ and title track ‘Fade Runner’ continues this nightmarish motif with tetchy techy bleeps and screeches. It’s moody, dark and strangely compelling. On the B-side Milton turns his hand to brash front-line tech-house. With it’s rolling bassline ‘Apocalypse Then’ is an avalanche of beeps, beats, stabs and FX melded to assault and devastate. Final track ‘Adventures in Stereo’ has a very different effect, bringing a distinct change in pace and mood. Charming and yet sleazy at the same time, it smooches and saunters with deep disco vibes and lusty French vocal snippets. Careful, this one might arouse you… or perhaps not.

Variety is the spice of life, and MJ’s productions are hot. Whether its prickly techno, upfront tech-house or quirky disco sleaze that get your juices flowing Milton serves something to tickle your taste buds and leave you wanting more. ‘The Fade Runner EP’ demonstrates Milton’s fresh, fun approach to production while also showcasing his undisputed talent. His mission, it seems, is not just to churn out scores of releases but to play around with genres and leave his mark. When the results are this good, why would he ever want to leave the studio?
