What a way to kick off 2006! We've signed two blinding EP's from Mazi under his Audio Soul Project guise, and they're both bloody belters. At the core of everything Mazi Namvar does is a restless drive to innovate. Whether he's behind the decks, crafting music in the studio, or working on his own Gourmet Recordings label, Mazi's goal is the same: to explore new musical territory and to keep challenging boundaries and perceptions. It's a risky proposition in a dance music culture saturated with the similar, but simply put, if Mazi's done it before, he's not going to do it again. Satellite is the first EP from Mazi to debut on UT, and features a full, filthy vocal from his wife Lori, so it's truly a family affair. The original mix has already been tearing floors up for Nic Fanciulli. It's nasty beats and bass line give a nod in the general direction of the 'Electro' sounds that's mashing up floors world wide, but Mazi puts his own personal spin on proceedings, jacking beats, big bass, and that illusive element, a full vocal, delivered with bags of style by Lori. For the adventurous of you out there, we have an Acappella to get busy in the mix with. In another first for urbantorque, Fred Everything drops in for remix duties, taking things techier, yet none the less devastating, with a powerfull heavy beat laden work out for those more hypnotic dance floor moments. We are chuffed to welcome Mazi on to the label with such a great single...the next EP ain't half bad either!
