P.O.D. EP

Japan’s Satoshi Fumi has beamed down another stellar constellation of cosmic deep and tech house collected together on the four-track ‘P.O.D. EP.’ His Urbantorque debut, the ‘Treasure EP,’ caused quite a stir, soliciting calls to UT towers from curious inquirers desperate to know who this Satoshi was. The EP received support from Pete Tong and Ben Watt, brought in new fans of the label, and is still a very healthy seller on well-known download sites. Thankfully, Satoshi does not disappoint with his follow-up, delivering four more mellifluous astral house tracks, guaranteed to ensure that yet more people will get to hear of this Satoshi.

The EP bursts to life with opening track ‘D1’, a favourite of Funk D’Void. It’s a shimmery, spacey slice of deep house on which a joyful chorus of fat 80s-sounding synths and uplifting pads usher in the warmth of Spring. ‘Syncronicity’ comes on a trippier, more hypnotic tech house tip. The expected depth is maintained however by lush dreamy synths and airy chords that float above the tracks more driving bottom.

Third track ‘Pianeep’ builds at a steadier pace than its predecessors. With soft gentle chords and a laidback tempo it exudes an invigorating soulful energy; likely to tug at the heart strings of even the most hardened clubber. Closing the EP is ‘Sign’, an atmospheric number on which tense loops are eased by Satoshi’s trademark spacey synths.

The ‘P.O.D. EP’ offers yet more proof that self-confessed tech geek Satoshi Fumi is fast becoming a master of space-age synths and cosmically uplifting chords. It’ll be no surprise if his second offering pulls in yet more curious fans, and there’s no doubt it’ll satisfy those who were wowed by the ‘Treasure EP.’ Expect plenty more soon from this Japanese sensation whose just completed a fabulous remix of the new Joshua Collins track on Urbantorque. On this form Satoshi Fumi will soon be a recognised name amongst connoisseurs of deep techy house.
