Since Blood first started tearing-up underground house clubs around the world last year, the follow-up from François DuBois has been eagerly anticipated. With I Try the Gallic master of the deep certainly hasn’t disappointed, and the track, which has already been heavily supported by the likes of James Zabiela, Nic Fanciulli and Danny Howells, is now finally being made available on Urbantorque.
From Pete Tong to Sven Väth, Sasha to Ben Watt, it seemed that everyone was rinsing the classic house vibes of Blood last summer, and I Try looks set to follow suit, uniting and delighting a broad spectrum of tastes and styles. It is vintage sounding, deep and invigorating hypnotic house at its very best; quite simply hard not to love. Soft, uplifting keys and pads, spellbinding breakdowns and evocative whispered vocal are the order of the day. The enigmatic French cousin of Funk D’Void has hit the spot once more.
Nic Fanciulli was certainly charmed, finding I Try indispensable and making it his no. 1 tune. So much was he taken by the track that he agreed to have a stab at a remix. What’s resulted is a subtly teasing groover of a mix that entices and seduces while leaving you gasping for more. The second remix included on this package is a mellower offering courtesy of An-2 that wonderfully emphasises the deeper components of the track. While being exquisitely tranquil, the mix manages to maintain the groove, making it a more than useful tool for an early set. Both remixes make worthy and complimentary companions to the original, setting this package out as an essential one for this summer’s travel bag.
It’s an old cliché, but good things will come to those who wait, and just like those infuriating London buses three DuBois releases now come along one after the after as this package will be followed-up by two more fine remix instalments featuring a sublime Jamie Anderson mix amongst others. This first release will doubtless whet the appetite for more, and the elegantly masterful I Try looks set to illuminate dancefloors worldwide for some time to come. Expect to hear it in Miami, expect to hear it in Ibiza, expect to hear it all year. It’s been a while coming, but now it’s time for a little French sophistication. C’est magnifique.

Anthony Pappa - "Thanks for sending me a copy of Francois DuBois - "I Try". All of the mixes are excellent and this is a quality tune for sure. I'm into the track and the vibe of the label. Cool stuff. My favourite mixes are the Original Mix and the Jamie Anderson Mix from the Miami Sampler"
DJ Vibe - "Francois Dubois the original still the one for me"
Andy Holt (Redanka) - "At last!! Monsieur Dubois' follow up to 'Blood' sees the light of day. The original is of course unbeatable, and it takes a very brave man to even attempt the remix, but to his eternal credit Nic has done a stand up job. Mr Fanciulli's version will ensure your get maximum mileage from the track I'm sure.
Proper house music. Top work again fellas. 9/10"
Tyler Stadius - "Thanks for these too. Nick's version's sweet, but REALLY lovin Jamie's"
Manuel Tur - "Oh damn.. that one is HOT! Perfect mix pack - love all three tunes, very diverse but equally top notch! AN-2's mix should be my favourite to play out the most, though.. In my opinion, this is even better than Blood!"
Louis Osbourne - "Original by far the best mix here.... Nic’s mix is smooth & very well produced... I’m liking the live feel to the AN2 mix, but it’s not as emotive as the original which is a bit of a balearic monster......"
Andy Leary (Relation) - "Liking all the tracks on here but the standouts for me are Posh Swag, the Diogenes Club and of course Lifelike's Relation interpretion"
Timo Garcia - "sublime! loving the nic fanciulli remix and the jamie anderson one you sent the other day quality deep house mate"
Kamishake - "Excellent package….class …..nick mix is dancfloor friendly and indeed will close my set with the other mixes full support and will chart it"

Les Croasdale - "As usual, this package does nothing but show the high calibre and quality of the urban torque label, diggin the NF mix, deep as you like! I must also add the Miami sampler is phat, full of goodness. Never fails
to impress. keep em coming"
Steve Parry (3 Beat) - "fanciulli doing it for me sir - the lad is on fire! i have hammered the original too on teh radio and in my deeper moments out and about from teh sampler. good stuff as always sir"

Chris Fortier - "I like the jamie anderson mix and the nic f. remixes best. the an-2 mix is a great mix too, but not something I would play as much only because of its overall vibe and the fact that it is more of an early early set/night record"
Onionz - "been hammering this for a while.his production is always on point"
Ric McClelland (Scope) -"I really like what Nic has done with his mix.. But it's 100% the original mix for me.. Not really a club track to be fair, but this is seriously good headphone house.. This will be on the i-pod and car stereo for some time!! Proper DEEP HOUSE.. Respect!"
Dave Mothersole - "i like the fanculli mix of 'i try' - nice take on it"

Dean Baker (UK) - "The original mix is beautiful deep sexy house music, i love it. Nic Fanculli's mix takes on a more dubby style and is great for me later on in the night. AN-2 not really my style but all in all this is a great package and will recieve plenty of air play. Keep up the good work guys"
Mike Miller - "“Original mix was hard to top; proper nostalgic house music at its finest but the Fanciulli mix has managed to follow suit and make it a little more accessible with more grunt for bigger sets. Nicely done, amazing package”

Fanciulli's mix is absoultely awesome - you've been knocking out some great stuff recently but this is definitely my favourite. I didn't know he made deep house like that! Love it, full support, plays, chartings and all the rest of the wonderful promotions merri-go-round"

Derek Taylor (M8) - "Phenomenal!!! The original is a superb slice, of warm, tech house. Best mix though is the Nic Fancuilli mix. He does't do that much to it, but what he does with the percussion makes a big difference. A much fuller, tougher track. 9/10 and charted at no. 6. I'll be reviewing this for the June issue of m8"
Jamie Pollock (IRE) - "Its the one tune ive been waiting to drop since i heard it all that time ago!! And now its here i cant get enough of it. The original in all its deep but so uplifting beauty. Is a class act amongst tracks. The Fanciulli remix is a brilliant, deep, teaser that just keeps going and if i was pushed id name it my pick of the lot. The AN-2 remix is loooovely too, def not what i was expecting but in a nice way!! Superb package thats straight into my numero un spot in the Fanciulli form"
Rafa Siles Alonso (SP) - "original mix track have a high quality to me but to selected clubs. françois dubois's sound it's too elegant and particular. i was hoping something more powerfull about nic fanciulli's mix... jamie anderson's futures mixes are more hearing on my seasons... by the way françois dubois - I try- it's a big maxi on the most important lavel.... congratulations to urban torque and especially to funk d' void ;)"
DJ Electric (RU) - Danceflor bomb !
Matthew Dekay (NL) - "That WMC package is HOT! 9/10 I don't know if you want me a little bit more specific. But I will play out almost the whole package"
Chris Gaines - "Thanks for this another brilliant package. Francois is bang on song with the original version what a great little number, really cool. NF turns in a surprising take, keeping things on the deep tip but offering a very credible alternative which really builds up nicely. The AN-2 mix strips things out nicely offering a more minimal take but still sounding full of quality. Ohhhh which mix to play out first!!! Nice......pppuuuurrrrrr"
Nacho Marco (Loudeast, SP) - "5/5. Good release. Cannot select a fovourite mix because i think I love the three of it ! Will play the full ep and chart it"
Matthew Hiscock (Bodega, US) - "I'm really digging both Posh Swag and Your Tiny Mind tho - those two are the highlight of the WMC comp. Posh Swag is like Eric Prydz for small rooms, which is just what I need in my sets. Are there more Your Tiny Mind remixes coming down the pipe? That vocal just works"
Jafar - "Wicked mate! It was always going to be hard to follow up Blood but this is lovely electronic gear with soul and bump, absolutely love it. Full support. Went down a storm at AKA on Tuesday too! Keep up the pressure my man!!"
Juan Andres Martinez (House Columbia) - "Great release, all tracks are dope... but the AN-2 remix is totally amazing! Deep , funky and yummy! I will play it A LOT!"

Nolan Kane (Team Broadcast) - "I like this dude.. big time.. origional and the mixes"

Still..Jamie Anderson's Mix takes the biscuit! Will be playing as i was playing the original for months now!"
Eoin Dalton (US) - "Diggin the An-2 remix of 'I Try'.Very nice indeed"
Jorge Garcia (Yorch) - "I liked 'D1', really warm and driving one. 'Synchronicity' is my favourite, those dub-step arrangements are very well done. Satoshi once again shows that is a solid producer"
Ingo Haan (NZ) - "I can only say brilliant! So well layered and recorded.I love it!"
Frederique (Radio Graffiti, FR) - "The new Francois Dubois is really excellent!! Is he really french? I read that it was a mystery so... I really enjoy the Fanciulli rmx;so deep. This is the return of the piano??!!!
DJ Manchini - "I Try - AN2 remix takes this track to another level - sounds very SpiritCatcherish :)"
Brent Beaudette (US) - "Next to the original, the AN-2 mix is my favorite here. I am really into the laid back vibe on this. The Nic Fanciulli mix is very nice as well. The parts from the original are worked in extremely well and the result is deep and compelling. Excellent work all around on Part 1 of this release"
2's Co & LEO - "love 'i try' total sheer quality all mixes the stand out for us has to be be NF remix its more suited to dark floor early doors, original is also top notch, full support from us @ 'KONSEPT' & Egg & Pacha..."
Kiko Navarro - "I Try seems it will be kinda of an anthem for the clubs, I like the original and nic fanciulli remix"
Charlie Dunlop - "What more can I say? I’ve been hammering this track everywhere from warehouse raves to fashion shows, beach parties to film premiers, and it always goes down a treat. Simply a beautiful, appealing and superb track. 10 /10, Quirky and innovative – this is a lovely alternative to the original. Definitely something to go a little earlier in my sets, but the brilliantly funky guitar riff is something that makes you close your eyes and nod your head in appreciation. Simple but very effective. Definitely into my playlist!"

Francois Dubois
I Try
(URBANTORQUE)
This has clearly become the label to watch at the moment, it's been building nicely for a while now and with last year massive Francois Dubois 'Blood' it really established itself to the masses. And now this new Francois Dubois a.k.a. Funk D'Void has out done last year's track 'Blood' with this new track 'I Try', oh wow, i don't know where to start, other than to say this is the best track i have heard all year!!! It samples 'Hip House Hardcore' by Tryree Cooper from 1989. What amazes me about this is it's really cool, it's deep, and also uplifting and will raise the roof and all good clubs, no easy task making a track like that, but he has really excelled himself here. The Original is by far the one, but other great mixes come from Jamie Anderson who keeps it deep and atmospheric and AN-2 provides a mid tempo workout which is fantastic. Also look out for mixes from Aqua Bassino, Nic Fanciulli, Steve Ferrand, Sam Ball, Scope, and finally Milton Jackson and Neil Quigley. What a package, i'll be smashing this all year! An absolute Killer!
